Dakar Rally: Quintero Stage Win, Loeb in Top 5 – Stage 2 Update

The American won the second stage on Monday ahead of South African Henk Lategan and Saudi Yazeed Al Rajhi. Frenchman Sébastien Loeb finished 7th.

The American Seth Quintero won the second stage of the Dakar 2026 on Monday ahead of the South African Henk Lategan, who scored a double for the Toyota Gazoo Racing team, and the title holder, the Saudi Yazeed Al Rajhi (Overdrive) After 504 km of racing (400 km of special) between Yanbu and AlUla, Quintero took his third stage victory in the rally-raid, with a lead of 1 min 42 sec. on Lategan and 1 min 56 sec on Al Rahji.

The Qatari Nasser Al Attiyah (Dacia) finished eighth (at 6 min 31 s) but the 2023 winner takes the lead in the general classification with only seven seconds ahead of Quintero and 1 min 09 sec over the Belgian Guillaume de Mévius, winner the day before the first stage on Mini.

Frenchman Sébastien Loeb (Dacia), still in search of a coronation for his tenth participation, finished seventh in the stage 06 min 07 sec behind the winner and is in fifth place overall, almost two minutes behind Al Attiyah. The Frenchman Simon Vitse is 6th at 5 min 46 s with his buggy.
