Weekend to remember for the ASD Centro Judo Novara, protagonist at the prestigious Lavis 2026 International Judo Tournament, one of the most important events on the national and international scene. The event, which took place on Saturday and Sunday, saw the participation of 1,118 athletes representing 131 sports clubs, once again confirming its very high technical level. In this highly competitive context, the Novara company achieved a significant 30th place in the general ranking.
Led by Maestro Flavio Vestali, the Novara team presented itself with eight athletes, obtaining a more than positive result: a second place, three third places and two fifth places, for a total of six finals out of eight categories played. A result that testifies to the constant growth of the group and the quality of the work carried out in recent months.
The one who shone was Mattia Moneta, who won a splendid silver medal in the 100 kg Juniores. Excellent performances also in the 73 kg Seniors, where Gabriele Martinone and Simon Vestali both achieved third place, demonstrating solidity and technical maturity. Podium also for Mattia Di Giorgio, third in the 38 kg Beginners B, author of a determined and continually improving race.
Good performance for Simone Di Giorgio, fifth in the 66 kg Cadets, as well as for Manuel Moneta, who finished fifth in the 90 kg Seniors, beaten by his teammate Gabriele in an internal derby of great intensity. Important experiences also for Gabriele Tiberi, seventh in his first outing in the Cadet category, and for Gloria Morelli, making her debut in the Esordienti B and already capable of showing character and potential.
Commenting on the trip is manager Walter Ferrari, who underlines the value of the path undertaken: «This result confirms the work that we have decided to carry out in the last period, combining technique, athletic preparation and collaboration with other clubs. Considering that it was an international trophy, we can be fully satisfied with the level expressed by our boys.”
For the ASD Centro Judo Novara, the 2026 Lavis Tournament therefore represents a further step forward in a season full of commitments and ambitions, with an eye already turned to the next national and international events.
