Bearers of hope before record night
49ers rely on McCaffrey: historic playoff series within reach
Christian McCaffrey has been playing at a level for years that even holds up in the playoffs. This weekend, the San Francisco 49ers running back could not only continue his already extraordinary season, but also finally join an exclusive circle of NFL history.
McCaffrey was already one of the most dominant offensive players in the league in the regular season. With 2,126 scrimmage yards – 1,202 on the ground and 924 through the air – he ranked second in the league. There were also 17 touchdowns, divided into ten rushing and seven receiving touchdowns. In addition to these strong regular-season performances, McCaffrey has another quality that stands out: his exceptional consistency under maximum pressure in the NFL playoffs.
Playoff dominance at a consistent elite level
In seven playoff games so far in his career, McCaffrey has an impressive 836 scrimmage yards (522 rushing, 314 receiving) and nine touchdowns. What’s particularly notable is that he has scored at least one touchdown in each of his last seven playoff games. He can now extend this series further in the away game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
