Fernando Martín, 44, was the coach of the women’s team reserve team

The 44-year-old man disappeared in Indonesia after the shipwreck in which he was traveling with his three children, also missing, was the coach of the Valencia women’s reserve team. The club has issued a statement confirming his death as well as that of his descendants, aged between 9 and 12 years.

Fernando’s wife and his fourth daughter, Andrea, the youngest of the couple’s six children together, were rescued alive. The other two minors had not traveled with the family to the Asian country because they were very young.
The accident occurred at 8:30 p.m. on Friday in Indonesia (1:30 p.m. in Spain) in the Padar Strait, within the Komodo national park and near the popular tourist destination of Labuan Bajo, a port town located on the western end of the island of Flores, according to the state news agency Antara. According to local authorities, the sinking occurred due to the poor state of the sea, with waves more than three meters high.
