DETVA – The match of the 28th round of the second highest Slovak hockey competition Tipos SHL between Detva and Skalica brought a scandalous premature end.

Rastislav Špirko prevailed in the guests’ jersey and Richard Nemec added two accurate hits. In the 37th minute, with the score 0:3, a brutal fight broke out in the spaces between the substitutes, which resulted in a real melee. The reason for the nervousness was probably feelings of guilt on the part of the home team from strict exclusions in the match.

Several players and officials of both clubs joined in, the domestic duo goalkeeper Matej Gajan and defender Jozef Myšiak tried to calm the situation. Subsequently, the coach of the home team, Richard Šechný, took all the players off the ice. This brought an early scandalous end, and the final result of the meeting will be decided by the League Council of the SHL.

Skalica is currently the third team in the competition, losing only one point to the leading pair of Levice and Žiar nad Hronom, and that has one match to spare. Detva is fighting for participation in the eight-final ten, losing only one point from the eleventh place at TEBS Bratislava.
