Divock Origi is a free transfer, but who dares to take the risk of giving the former Liverpool striker, who has hardly played for several years, a chance?
Divock Origi’s career has taken a somewhat sad turn since his arrival at AC Milan. The attacker arrived on a free transfer in 2022, as Liverpool’s “perfect super sub” and, according to Jurgen Klopp, a true Anfield legend. Three years later he left San Siro with just 36 games under his belt, all from the 2022-2023 season.
Origi was then loaned out to Nottingham Forest, where he had a particularly difficult season. And since then? Nothing more. The Red Devil was returned to the Primavera and then completely pushed aside by AC Milan. Despite his generous wages, Divock Origi seemed in no hurry to revive his career.
He is now transfer-free, but his last official match dates back to April 21, 2024. His name has been mentioned in the Jupiler Pro League in recent months, but it remains to be seen whether a club will dare to give him a chance, and especially under what conditions.
Maccabi Tel Aviv, first track for Origi
In anticipation of possible Belgian interest, one concrete avenue is already circulating. According to transfer journalist Aaron Domínguez, Maccabi Tel Aviv has submitted a contract proposal to the former Liverpool striker.
The current number three in the Israeli league is looking for a deep striker and already has a former Pro League player in the core with Yonas Malede (ex-Gent, ex-KV Mechelen). Is this a realistic option? Possibly yes, although the question remains whether Origi himself is open to an adventure in Israel.
