In fact, the Amaranth club announced on the afternoon of Tuesday 9 December the hiring of Lorenzo Pennaplaymaker of 1.81 meters and 82 kilos, born in Bentivoglio (Bologna) on 21 January 1998. Penna grew up sportingly in the Giovanni Masi sports club in Casalecchio di Reno, at the age of 12 he moved to Virtus Bologna. With the black V shirt he won two regional titles under 13 and under 14. In 2012 he also won the national title in the 3 vs 3 Join the Game.
On 20 December 2015 he made his debut in Serie A with Virtus in the home match won against Pistoia with a score of 76 to 72. A season in which, however, the epilogue was unhappy, given that the Bianconeri were relegated to Serie A2. After the bronze with the under 18 shirt at the European Championships in Turkey – 9 points on average in the continental competition – Penna receives confirmation from Virtus for the 2016/17 season. Penna finds coach Ramagli on his path and at just 19 years old he wins the A2. The 2017/18 championship sees him still in A2 (the category where he will spend the rest of his career) with the Andrea Costa Imola shirt. The 20-year-old Penna’s points average rises to 7.7.

From 2018 to 2020 Penna plays for Udinese Basketball. The first year – under the technical guidance of Ramagli – is excellent: 53% from 2 and 38% from 3. Penna also confirms himself in the following season, but Covid stops the championship which is heading towards the hottest phase, that of the playoffs. The 2020/21 championship, experienced with the Basket Torino shirt, sees Penna among the protagonists of an unforgettable season even if with a bitter epilogue, with the Piedmontese losing the final promotion to Tortona.
In 2021/22 Penna is again at the court of Alessandro Ramagli, this time at Scaligera Verona, but Lorenzo injured his knee in November and missed the rest of the season, leaving the field with an average of 5.6 points in the 7 games played. The boy returns to play in the following season which sees him together with Fabio Valentini, in the Pallacanestro Forlì 2.015. And here Lorenzo is incisive and decisive. There are 40 attendees. 7.6 average points and maximum efficiency. Penna, however, has a score to settle with Verona who had only appreciated him for 7 games two years earlier. And then on the Scaligera bench there is still his historic ‘master’ Alessandro Ramagli who recalls him and makes his performances take off as well as awarding him the captain’s stripes. In 2023/24 he averaged 8 points per game, while last year he climbed to double figures: 10.3 points per shoe tie. Last February 1st during the match between Tezenis Scaligera-Basket and Bi.Emme Service Libertas Livorno he scored 13 points.
