NBA superstar Jokic will be out for at least four weeks
The Serbian center injured his knee. Denver Nuggets fans fear the worst. But the diagnosis is still relatively benign.
Basketball superstar Nikola Jokic will miss the Denver Nuggets in the NBA for at least a month with a knee injury. The 30-year-old Serb suffered a hyperextension injury to his left knee in the 123:147 loss to the Miami Heat, the Nuggets said. The situation should be reassessed after four weeks.
The currently dominant professional in the best basketball league in the world could get away with this comparatively lightly. Many fans of the title candidate feared a more serious ligament injury. If Jokic is out for a month, he would miss the Nuggets around 15 games and could be back on the floor before the All-Star Game in February.
The center is currently fifth in the NBA with an average of 29.6 points per game and leads the statistics in rebounds and assists. So far in his career, Jokic has been named the league’s most valuable player three times.
