Infante Jr. Joins Parma Clima: Italy National Team Pitcher Confirmed

Parma baseball announces that it has reached an agreement for the next competitive season with the athlete Juan Carlos Infante Carreno Junior, pitcher for the Italian national team from Modena.

Infante, born in 2002, throws and throws right-handed. He is the son of Juan Carlos Senior, currently coach of Bologna and former shortstop of the Italian national team, and will play as an Italian athlete from an Italian school.

He finished the 2005 season with a record of 4 wins and 4 losses, a 3.26 ERA and 86 strikeouts in 80 games played on the mound.

In the second part of the year he revealed himself as a spearhead for the Under 23 national team and subsequently for the senior national team with which he took part in the European championships which ended with the conquest of a prestigious silver medal. On this occasion he was used by Francisco Cervelli’s staff in two games, obtaining a victory with an overall average of 4.50.

We are very happy to have reached the agreement with Infante – the words of Sports Director Maurizio Renaud -. He is one of the best Italian prospects and has shown a strong will to embrace our project. In the past he has also played in defense and as a hitter but we will use him as a pitcher by inserting him in a group of Italian pitchers that already includes Bocchi, Scotti, Santana and Rivera. We will thus have the opportunity to play the first phase of the season with the addition of just one foreign or community pitcher: the objective is to maintain our competitiveness while maintaining the opportunity to use a third seen during the playoffs when the commitments will become more numerous and closer>.

The ducal front office declares itself very satisfied with the agreement reached with one of the best emerging talents in national baseball.

Infante is growing rapidly and represents an important investment both for the present and for the future – specifies Renaud -. Now it will be up to him to find the right spaces to establish himself and our technical staff will have to offer them to him. We are certain that we have enriched our potential with the arrival of an athlete who will be talked about for a long time>.
