The football tournament itself took place in the same spirit as in previous years. The twelve puffed-up clubs played it out in two six-member basic groups, where four teams from each advanced to the two quarter-final groups. The teams in the first two places then went on to fight for the medal positions.
The team Mokrý Banditi was delighted to win the first place at the Gobi Cup (shortened), Zdraví muži took second place, RMSK Třebeš won third place and RB Chlumec finished just below the podium. Individual matches were managed by referees Buchta, Fišer, Pavel Vítek and Nymsa. The announcer was traditionally Osvald Liebisch.
In the hall of Slavia Hradec Kráílové, quality footballers from regional and league competitions presented themselves.
“I think that the performance level of the individual teams has risen again. The high-quality cast brought beautiful matches. This also contributed to why we organize it. Of course, it is also about sport, but the basis is the proceeds that we have collected. It goes to the Sport Hradec Cup, through which it will go to help handicapped children,” said the main organizer of the tournament, Jiří Mašek.
Three years ago, 33,000 was collected, two years ago 53,000, last year it was over 100,000 crowns and now the amount has reached 106,200 CZK.
“It’s wonderful where this event is moving in this direction,” Mašek did not hide his joy. Just for information, one hundred thousand crowns is the amount that Sport Hradec Cup donates to one disabled child.
And one more interesting thing about the Healthy Men of the Third Millennium collective. This is a team that, through several of its members, spreads awareness about testicular cancer in schools, where it talks to students.
