The Royal Football Federation of Ceuta celebrated today, December 19, a new act of the ‘Wall of Remembrance’an initiative with which pay tribute permanent to people who have left an indelible mark in the history of Ceuta football.
On this occasion, Commemorative plaques for six deceased people have been placedall of them players or managers closely linked to football in our city. The names incorporated in this new act have been Manuel Gómez de Mula ‘Bacalao’, Manuel Crespo González, Carlos Villón Egea, Antonio Fernández Muñoz, Armando Fernández Fernández and Juan Ronda León.
Interventions
The event began with the intervention of Antonio García Gaonapresident of the Royal Ceuta Football Federation. Next, Father José Manuel González made the tribute official with a joint prayer, in which all those present participated.
Subsequently, the relatives of those honored were in charge of personally placing the commemorative plaque of their loved one on the Wall of Remembrance, in a moment of special significance. During the event, Each family member was given a white rose.as a symbol of remembrance and respect.
The ceremony was moderated by Javier Chellaram and was also attended by José Garrido, director of Competitions of the RFFCE, and José Carlos Ayala “Chito”, sports director of futsal, as well as other members of the Royal Football Federation of Ceuta.
First anniversary of the initiative
This December marks the first anniversary of this initiative, which was born in December 2024. Since then and until today, between 20 and 50 family members and friends of the people honored have gathered at each event.s, which means that hundreds of people have participated throughout the year in the different tributes held, consolidating the ‘Wall of Remembrance’ as a space of memory and recognition for football in our city.
The Royal Football Federation of Ceuta reaffirms its commitment to continue working in the present, promoting new projects and challenges, without ever forgetting the legacy and effort of those who were part of our past.
