His fans have been waiting for his return for over a year and a half. But they will still have to wait a few months. This Sunday, in a video published on the Dairy Products YouTube channel, Cédric Doumbè gave news of his career. And they’re not very good.
Absent from the cage since May 17, 2024 and his victory against the American Jaleel Willis in the first round, “The Best” will not return to competition for several months. The fault lies in several injuries which would have already disturbed him during his last fights, in particular the much debated one against Baysangur “Baki” Chamsoudinov, concluded by a stoppage by the referee after a splinter was planted in Doumbè’s foot.
“I’ve been fighting with a broken left wrist for three years,” explained the Frenchman after twenty minutes of discussion with his video comrades. And now, it’s been a year (that I’ve been injured) also on my right wrist. Both ligaments are torn. The fight against Jaleel, and even the one against Baki, I was training but there were plenty of times where I got injured. »
“We’re not going to see me fight for eight months”
Faced with this series of injuries, Cédric Doumbè decided to stop MMA training and seek treatment. “There, I told myself that I couldn’t fight with a broken wrist otherwise it was going to do something like the thorn again, I was going to stop,” he explained. I need to take care of my wrist first before I come back. We’re not going to see me fight for a good eight months to come back stronger. »
“The Best” assures him, however, he trains to stay in shape. “For now, I only do cardio, I don’t do MMA. Cardio burns you out but I’m very frustrated not to hit,” he swore.
In this same video, Cédric Doumbè took the opportunity to once again discuss the fight against Baki. “I was very bad,” he said. Not because I lost, because I don’t think I lost, but because I prepared for months, the whole of France was waiting for this fight, and the referee stole this fight from all of us. »
