Get ready for a high-octane display of grappling as the “Jelgava Open 2025” Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Championship is set to unfold on November 15th.This year’s event, hosted at the Jelgava Sports Hall, will feature the thrilling “No-gi” format, meaning athletes will compete without the conventional kimono, emphasizing raw athleticism and submission skills.

The competition promises a wide spectrum of talent, with participants ranging from eager youngsters to seasoned adult competitors, all vying for supremacy across various weight classes. This marks the second year the association “BJJ Jelgava” has organized this championship. Thier ambition is to host both Gi and No-Gi versions annually, fostering a comprehensive understanding of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

The association’s commitment extends beyond just competition. “Our goal is to promote children’s and young people’s understanding of sport, its impact on the development of the body, to inform young people about healthy leisure opportunities related to sports and physical activities, as well as to inform society about Brazilian jiu-jitsu as a sport,” states Aleksandrs Shmelyov, a representative of “BJJ Jelgava.” this mission highlights a dedication to youth development and the broader promotion of martial arts.

Action kicks off at 10:00 a.m. in the Jelgava Sports Hall,and fans can enjoy the spectacle with free admission. The event is a collaborative effort, brought to you by the association “BJJ Jelgava” in partnership with the Jelgava Sports Service Center and the Latvian Jiu-Jitsu Federation.
