In tennis it seems that there is a discussion that has no end: who is the best tennis player of all time? Countless players passed through the sport and left an indelible mark that is impossible to forget, but with the appearances of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic seems to have left everyone else far away from the discussion about who is the GOAT (‘Greatest of all time’ – in English).
A player who suffered them closely was Juan Martín del Potro. The Argentine lived firsthand the best versions of the Swiss, La Fiera and Nole, where he lost more times than he won, but every victory he has against them was marked, whether because they were in a Grand Slam, Masters 1000, final or Olympic Games. Therefore, after several months of silence, the tandilense went public again and chose between Federer, Rafael Nadal and Djokovic.
Although a few years ago he admitted that Nole still needed to win a GS to be considered the greatest of all, Delpo redeemed himself and pigeonholed him at the top. “Obviously the numbers say it, they support it. Then it’s taste, there are some who feel more identified with Roger, others with Rafa, but what Novak has done in tennis is obviously unmatched. I don’t know if anyone can repeat it.”he pointed out in dialogue with “ESPN”

Juan Martín del Potro, although he had a successful career, where he won a Grand Slam by beating Roger Federer in the much-remembered final of the 2009 US Open, after leaving Rafael Nadalhe had to undergo surgery several times for different injuries that harmed him, especially in his wrists. However, he knew how to pull himself together and every time he returned to the courts, it was like a stone in the shoe for the three greatest in history, since each game they played became a battle.
Without Roger Federer, Del Potro’s new life
Del Potro has been away from professional activity for two years, after retiring at the ATP in Buenos Aires in 2022, being his last tournament before hanging up his racket. Now, with a new life, he is the ambassador of the Roland Garros Juniors Series that takes place in Sao Paulo and the winner earns a wild card (invitation) to the Parisian tournament.
“I’m kind of letting life surprise me a little, too. I ended up in a paddle tennis project, now I go with the juniors, I do this type of presentation activities for brands and talks. On the other hand, many players call me to help them a little with the serve or ask me to guide them in one thing or that they need different collaborations in others. Today I have time for a lot of those things, luckily, so I try to take advantage of it,” said the tandilense with Danny Miche, on his visit to the Miami Open.
