Kigali (Rwanda) – During the third day of Fiba Afrobasket U16 2025 at the small Kigali stadium, Mali and Côte d’Ivoire largely dominated their confrontations between Nations of West Africa.

Fiba.basketball offers a summary of this day.

Mali draws from its resources to tame Liberia

Third in the tournament in 2023, Mali had to fight hard in front of Liberian beginners to win 69–57.

Liberia pushed the eagles into their entrenchments. But a decisive sequence of 13–8 at the end of the second quarter offered Mali the momentum necessary to take control and ensure victory.

With only seven players available for this group A match, Mali’s task was not easy. Liberia, also diminished with four absent, delivered a performance full of intensity, making the meeting disputed until the end.

Mali led 44–28 to the break. A series of 14–7 in the middle of the third quarter seemed to seal the fate of the match, but Liberia did not abdicate.

Three Malian players finished at ten or more points. Bakary Ballo showed the way with 19 points, N’Dji Ibourahima Coulibaly added 16 units and Mohamed Keita completed his service with a double-double (13 points, 10 rebounds), in addition to 5 passes, 2 interceptions and 2 against.

On the Liberian side, Leabon David also made a double-double (11 points, 11 rebounds). Kamara Kosso scored 19 points in 33 minutes and 48 seconds, while capturing 9 rebounds. David Evans was the third player to reach the ten -point mark.

Liberia signed a good reaction in the last quarter with a 20–11 which testified to its fighting spirit. But the gap remained too large and Mali provided an eight -point victory.

Côte d’Ivoire unrolls against Sierra Leone

In a completely one -way meeting, Côte d’Ivoire has displayed all its effectiveness by winning 112–27 against Sierra Leone, the biggest score recorded at Fiba Afrobasket U16 2025.

Jean-Philippe Oka led the elephant attack with 26 points and 8 rebounds.

But it was Adama Sisi Koné who shone, compiling 14 points and 11 rebounds for an exceptional evaluation of 49, the best in the meeting.

Three other Ivorians have reached the ten points: Omar Mangassouba (14), Antoine Mohamed Konan (10) and Biza Martial Junior N’Goran (10).

“It was not as easy as it looked, but we won. We must continue to work because we did not come here just to participate,” reacted Oka after the meeting.

The Ivorians took a canon start, leading 34–2 at the end of the first quarter. At the break, the gap had exploded at 61 points (69–8), leaving no doubt about the outcome.

The Sierra Leone managed to cross the ten-point bar in the second half, but Côte d’Ivoire had already taken more than 70 lengths ahead. The elephants concluded with Panache, winning 112–27 and signing the widest victory of the tournament until then.
