Luciano Cesari, the historical figure of the archery in Pistoia and a reference point for generations of athletes and for the whole local arcier movement, went out at the age of 71.
The world of Tuscan sport loses one of its most passionate and silently fundamental figures. Tuesday 24 June, at the age of 71, he died at the Pistoia hospital Luciano Cesariname that for decades has meant archery, dedication, training and spirit of community. Anyone who today practices archery in the Pistoia – whether it is out of passion, for agonism or by tradition – owes something to the tireless commitment of Caesar. Coach, technician, promoter, organizer: there is no aspect of this discipline that has not touched with competence and heart.
One of his most visible inheritances is Marco Cesarison and extraordinary athlete, several times world champion in the specialty of Sagoma shooting. Luciano was the first to believe in his son’s talent, training him with the patience and intuition of those who know how to distinguish a champion when he sees him grow arch in hand. But Luciano’s contribution did not stop at the family talent. Youth technician, trainer of Paralympic athletes in the Parakery sector, director of the shots in official events, was a guide for entire generations of archers, transmitting the values of this ancient and noble sport with humility and rigor.
No less important was his commitment in local realities: instructor of Archers of the San Michele district Of Pesciawhich he carefully prepared for the traditional Palio Settembrino of the city of Fioriactive member of the Compagnia Arcieri Borgo al Cornio and founding partner of the Archers of the Micco di Pistoiaone of the most rooted and lively realities in the area. To the Cesari family, to the arcier community and all those who shared a piece of road with him, the moved hug from the world of sport goes.
