Nikola Jokić, the center of the Denver Nuggets – three times MVP of the regular season (2021, 2022 and 2024), NBA champion in 2023 and best Finals player – is considered one of the most complete in the history of basketball. Yet, although the spotlight of world basketball are constantly focused on him, the Serbian champion has once again chosen Ferrara for a moment of tranquility.
To reveal the curious Italian stage of Jokić was the social page “The typical day”, famous in the world of basketball. A user – the Ausselian Medical Director of the Ausl of Ferrara Alessandro Zapparoli – said an anecdote ironically: his wife, unaware of the caliber of the visitor, sent him a photo with these words: “tonight he slept here one very high, he came to see horses. I asked him a photo to show him, do you know him?” That “one very high” – is 2 meters high and 11 – was the number 15 of the Nuggets.
Jokić’s visit to Ferrara is not an isolated case at all. Already in July 2021, back from the first title of MVP, the basketball player had been spotted in the city with his father. On that occasion he had visited some stables in the region, including that of Zenzallo, where the legendary Varenne trotter was born.
The link between Jokić and the equestrian world is known: the Serbian has his own stable and every occasion is good to look for new horses or simply enjoy the atmosphere of the equestrian sector. Ferrara, with her campaigns and the tranquility of the local equestrian centers, seems to offer him exactly what he is looking for away from American parquet.
A discreet presence, of course, but for those who love sport and know his figure, difficult not to recognize.
