German Kata Championships 2024: Freital | Judo Saxony

For the first time in the history of the Judo Association of Saxony EV, the German Kata Championship, the German Kata Championship ID and the German Kata Championship U18 in Freital took place and was therefore the setting for a special highlight in the national judocal end. The German Kata Championships in 2025 attracted athletes from all over Germany to Saxony. But that’s not enough, also the Vice President of the German Judo-Fund, Jenny Frey, Frank Nitzel, President of the Judo Association Saxony EV, Vice President René Andreis, Teaching and Examination Officer René Liesebach and Honorary President Dr. Ulbricht from Saxony attended the event. The opening took place by our Mayor Mr. Rumberg, the representative of the Saxon Sports Association of Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Mountains and the President of PSV Freital EV, Tobias Meier.

It is particularly worth mentioning in advance that the Judo Association of Saxony EV came to the 2nd place in the country ranking, with four gold medals and a 6th place in the final of the Nag-No-Kata.

However, the participation in the Nage-No-Kata U18 was particularly gratifying. Nine couples from all over Germany took part in this category-“A positive signal for the area” said Jörg Schröder, person responsible for the Kata of the Judo Association Saxony eV after the tournament.

The Kata youth showed consistently committed services. Colin Junkuhn and Emil Kürschner from PSV Freital EV showed a remarkable performance in the preliminary round and thus made it to the top of the table. In the final round, the two Freital Judoka showed what they have learned and internalized so far. They presented their kata with flawless techniques, precision and expression and were ultimately rewarded with the title of the German champion in the Nage-No-Kata U18. What a performance! Who would have thought three years ago that the German champion in the Nage-No-Kata U18 from Saxony would come. “Emil and Colin started with Kata 1.5 years ago. Her weekly hard work to get to know your willingness to get new things, as well as her interest in judo sport now reflect the result,” said Jörg Schröder after the tournament. Congratulations on the German championship title 2025 at this point.

Anna Scheppan from JC Antonsthal-Schwarzenberg EV prevailed in the strong competition of the Katame-No-Kata ID WK1 in the final round and thus also won precious metal and thus the 1st place for the Saxon Judo Association Ev. Congratulations on the German championship title 2025 at this point.

Josée Feige and Eric Jentsch from Chemnitzer PSV EV started as a newcomer couple in the Nage-no-Kata among adults and reached the final directly with their Super Kata. In the final, the two Chemnitzer showed again what they can do. Unfortunately, the strong competition was not enough for one of the coveted podium places, but ultimately they sold great and can be proud of their achievements. At this point, congratulations on the 6th place at the German Championships 2025.

Erik Tschierlei and Anne Woischneck from SSV Heidenau EV started in the Ju-no-Kata, which was most occupied with 18 couples at this DKM. The competition was high with the reigning Vice European champion and other top pairs from Germany. The two Heidenauer nevertheless faced the challenge and won a strong 14th place at the end of the preliminary round. My absolute respect that the two Saxon judoka faced this challenge. At this point, congratulations on 14th place at the German Championships 2025.

Jörg Schröder from PSV Freital EV passed his exams for the federal kata rating judge at the German Kata Championship this weekend. So after a long time and after Klaus Büchler we have a federal cata rating judge again. The JVS wishes Jörg Schröder all the best and always a safe eye.

A big thank you goes to all participants, coaches, supervisors, Judges, DJB Commission members and all helpers, but especially to the PSV Freital EV, who made this German Kata Championship with his tireless work.
