BK Häcken to Leverkusen: Transfer News

BK Häcken makes a new big player sales. Midback Abdoulaye Faye is ready for German big club Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga.
– The fact that we sell one of our players to an absolute top club in Europe is another milestone for the club and a receipt that our business is good, says BK Häckens football manager Martin Ericsson.

Abdoulaye Faye came to BK Häcken in August two years ago. He made all-Swedish debut this spring and played the first six series matches-before that he also played an important role in the Swedish Cup title this spring, as it was he who sent the ball club to the semi-finals with his decisive goal away against Mjällby in the 94th minute.
– It’s my favorite memory from my time in BK Häcken. I was so happy, I was the happiest man on earth, says Abdoulaye Faye.

The 20-year-old also started in the semi-final win against IFK Norrköping, before a foot injury put a stop to games in the final. In total, there were 19 A-team matches for BK Häcken, of which six are in the Allsvenskan and five in the Swedish Cup. Now he is sold to Bayer Leverkusen, who finished second in the Bundesliga last season and won the league title season before.
– I have learned a lot both on and off the pitch since I moved here from Senegal. I have received a lot of help to develop. The environment is nice, everyone is so friendly and I have felt at home in BK Häcken, says Abdoulaye Faye.

The foot injury meant that Faye was not allowed to end his time in BK Häcken on the pitch, but despite this, the interest in the center -back has been great for this summer’s transfer window.
– It is a player that we have liked from day one with his soaring potential but who also needed time to develop and mature in their role. It is a mixed feeling that Faye was not allowed to end his relatively short time in the club on the pitch, but at the same time I am happy and proud to send him on on his journey. Thanks for this time, Faye, and good luck on, says Martin Ericsson.

Abdoulaye Faye feels great gratitude towards the club.
– BK Häcken gave me my first professional contract and is my second family. I will bring with me the joy of having played in BK Häcken and before the fans at Bravida Arena everywhere in life.
