The second day of the Nimes Archery Tournament 2025, a prestigious indoor archery event and the fourth stage of the Indoor World Series (offering 1000 points, the highest of the season), saw several italian athletes shine. Today, following the conclusion of the ranking round, the elimination matches across all brackets took place, setting the stage for tomorrow’s finals.
Tokyo 2021 Olympic medalist Lucilla Boari, who finished 17th in the 60-arrow qualification round, delivered an remarkable performance in the recurve category. She triumphed over France’s Louise Botte,her compatriot Elisabetta Mijno (who topped the ranking round with a new Paralympic world record),Germany’s Michelle Kroppen,and Estonia’s Reena Parnat.
The 27-year-old from Mantua will face British rising star Penny healey in tomorrow’s final. Healey dominated her matches, defeating Italy’s Roberta Di Francesco and Tatiana Andreoli with a 6-0 score in the round of 16 and quarterfinals, respectively. Additionally, Vanessa Landi was eliminated in the quarterfinals, while chiara Rebagliati exited in the first round.
In the men’s Olympic recurve category, Italy’s young talent Matteo Borsani stood out, reaching the semifinals before falling to Germany’s Florian Unruh. Borsani had previously defeated top-tier competitors, including Germany’s Felix Wieser, Italy’s Mauro Nespoli, and India’s Atanu Das. Tomorrow, he will compete for the bronze medal against France’s Thomas Chirault. Other Italian archers were eliminated before the quarterfinals.
