What are your thoughts on this surge in French talent?
Coach Bourdon: I’m not surprised at all. France has a rich basketball history, and the quality of youth growth programs has been steadily improving for years. These young players are coming up with a strong foundation in fundamentals, combined with a fearless, athletic playing style. They’re not afraid to compete at the highest level, which is clearly evident in their performances.

Coach Bourdon: Certainly, it helps! Having top-tier French talent draws attention and creates a sense of national pride.The Paris club is smart to invest in these players – it not only elevates the team’s performance, it also fosters a deeper connection with French fans. It’s a win-win.
Now, we can’t ignore the international element. TJ Shorts, an American player, is also receiving massive recognition in the survey. Does this show a shift in the EuroLeague’s landscape, becoming more globalized?
Coach Bourdon: The EuroLeague has always been a melting pot of talent.But what we’re seeing now is a confluence of factors: the enhancement of European basketball as a whole, the increased global visibility of the league, and the willingness of players from all corners of the world to chase opportunities. It makes for a dynamic and highly competitive environment.
I have to agree. It seems the EuroLeague is becoming truly a global stage. What do you think this means for the future of basketball?

It’s exciting, isn’t it? The lines between traditional basketball hotbeds are blurring. This creates opportunities for young players all over the world, and it elevates the level of play across the board. We’re in for a golden age of basketball.

Coach Bourdon: Absolutely! The NBA has always scouted international talent, but the EuroLeague’s competitiveness is undeniable. They’re seeing players develop and excel at a high level, and there’s there’s no doubt whatsoever that the NBA will continue to look towards Europe for future stars.
