“Following my husband’s championship win in‍ Canada, we embarked ‌on the indoor tournament season in October and haven’t looked back,” bayardo shared. “Just three weeks ago,we were competing in Taiwan,before that in Switzerland and Luxembourg,participating ​in two World Cups over three consecutive weekends. Now, with⁢ a ​brief four-day respite, we’re back to ​training, gearing up for more competitions in this format.”

Bayardo,​ who secured a bronze medal at the​ Tokyo ⁢2020‌ Olympics and achieved a commendable fourth-place⁣ finish at the Paris 2024 games, recently used her time in Tijuana for a personal milestone. Alongside her husband, ‌fellow archer Mike Schloesser, she announced her pregnancy to her family.

“Life is about to ‍change ‌considerably,” bayardo acknowledged. “therefore,I won’t ​be able to participate in ⁤the Las Vegas tournament in March,as my due date will be approaching.My focus is now⁣ shifting towards the medium-term future, with the Los Angeles 2028 Games firmly in my sights.”

Coming off the⁣ Tokyo 2020 bronze, I had‍ high expectations for myself, and to⁤ finish⁢ fourth in Paris was ⁤a​ testament ⁤to all the hard work and dedication.”

You and your husband, Mike ⁤Schloesser, are a formidable archery duo. How do ⁢you find the ⁢balance between pushing each other to excel and supporting each other’s individual goals?

Gabriela: ⁢”it’s⁣ a constant dance! We’re incredibly lucky to have ‍found​ a partner⁤ who‍ understands the demands and realities of professional⁣ archery. We push ⁤each other‌ in training, celebrate each other’s victories, and offer comfort and understanding in the ⁢certain ​moments of disappointment. Gabriela: “Thank you so much! It’s certainly a life-changing⁣ event, and we’re both incredibly excited.

Honestly,it’s been a bit of a juggling act. I’m still diligently training, ​but ⁢I have to be mindful of my energy levels and listen to my body. while I’ll miss the Las Vegas tournament ⁣in March⁤ due to my due date, my focus has ​shifted ⁣towards the medium-term future.The Los Angeles 2028 Games are firmly in‍ my sights, and ⁤I’m persistent to be there, competing at my best.”
