The proclamation came shortly after a World Cup competition in Davos, marking a poignant end to their marriage.
A Relationship in Transition
Joensuu shared her emotional journey on Instagram, writing, “We are not us anymore. During the last trip, I knew all was not well, adn when I got home, it was confirmed that our paths are parting.” The decision followed a week of sleepless nights, leaving her feeling “absolutely terrible.”
A Love Born on the Slopes
The couple first met at a skiing competition in Rovaniemi five years ago, where Joensuu fell deeply in love. She expressed gratitude for the incredible experiences and support Simonen provided, which helped her achieve her dreams both on and off the slopes. “Life outside of skiing has been a necessity, and my own family has made it possible as well. And for this, I am more than grateful,” she wrote.
Looking Forward with Hope
Despite the heartbreak,Joensuu remains hopeful about the future. “Feel extremely sad, disappointed, and feel like my life has lost its base, but damn, I’ll find that smile again and one day say it was meant to be,” she concluded.
