Golden State star Draymond Green received a five-game suspension on Wednesday for grabbing Rudy Gobert (Minnesota) in the head during the Warriors’ defeat against the Timberwolves, the NBA announced.
Green lost his composure in the opening minutes of Tuesday’s game in San Francisco, grabbing Gobert by the neck and dragging him across the field after a melee involving Klay Thompson and Jaden McDaniels.
NBA Executive Vice President Joe Dumars said in a statement that Green was disciplined without pay for “escalating an on-court altercation” and tackling Gobert in an “unsportsmanlike and dangerous manner.” . Green’s suspension is the latest in a long series of run-ins with NBA disciplinary chiefs over the years.
