It is now assumed that the president of Washington, Bruce Allen, will no longer manage the football operation in D.C. after today. What is not known is what will happen next for Allen.
He could be with the team in a different role. It could completely leave the team. And if he leaves the team completely, it could be the first step towards landing somewhere else.
The talk about Allen joining the Rams has intensified, given Allen’s link with Rams’ COO Kevin Demoff. Allen gave Demoff his first job at the NFL, and Demoff has a reputation for intense loyalty (except in St. Louis).
And as a League source explained to PFT, Allen has a reputation for being an effective politician and salesman. How difficult it would be for Allen to convince potential employers that a decade of malfunction in D.C. retraces the owner Dan Snyder? Allen was probably the pincushion for Snyder, with Allen taking the public heat and Snyder staying behind the curtain.
Although it’s not exactly the same as Tom Brady and Bill Belichick trying to prove that they can do it without the other, it would be interesting to see how Allen does it with a new team and how Washington does it without Allen.
