The country's No. 1 team will play this weekend without its best player.
If you missed the news this week, the college football playoff committee unveiled its first standings for the 2019 season and the Ohio State was placed over Alabama and LSU. Even though the Buckeyes win Saturday against Maryland, there is a chance that the Ohio State will lose its grip on first place thanks to Alabama or LSU who win an outstanding victory this weekend and to the uncertainty surrounding the best player of the program.
On Friday, the Ohio State announced that defensive wing Chase Young had been suspended for the team's next game against Maryland. According to the school, Young's suspension is "due to a possible NCAA problem from 2018 on which the sports department is interested."
No other comments have been posted yet regarding the suspension.
Young is currently leading the nation in sacks (13.5) and retains his best performance at the moment the Buckeyes need him the most, since he has scored four sacks against Wisconsin.
The junior defenseman is not only a candidate for the Heisman Trophy, but also a candidate to become the first overall pick in the draft NFL 2020.
