Tottenham Hotspur are keen on out of favour Barcelona winger Malcom, according to a report published by Diario AS.
The 22-year-old arrived at the Camp Nou last summer from Bordeaux. While highly-rated, he struggled for form and consistency last season and went on to play just 15 times in La Liga, scoring one goal.
It has been reported that Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde was actually not really keen on the club signing Malcom last summer. It is therefore very realistic that the Blaugrana will listen to offers for the player, which could work in Tottenham’s favour.
The Spanish giants will be looking to rebuild and undergo something of a squad overhaul this summer as they look to build a side that can challenge for the Champions League next season.
Malcom is currently one of three Barcelona players- along with Arthur Melo and Arturo Vidal – who does not hold an EU passport. If they buy another this summer, they will have to sell one of the trio.
Malcom is a very good talent and needs a departure from the Camp Nou in order to revitalise his career.
A move to Tottenham could actually suit him very well and he has all of the qualities which are required to succeed under Mauricio Pochettino.
Erik Lamela has been rather underwhelming and Malcom could be a good option to provide him with competition ahead of next season.
Signing the youngster will be a step in the right direction for Spurs, who will be looking to finally land a piece of major silverware next season.
