Abbie McManus agrees to sign for Manchester United Women

Born in Prestwich on 14 January 1993, Abbie McManus has enjoyed a successful career so far and will move across town to join United after spending more than a decade with Manchester City.

Having played for Bury Girls as a teenager, the defender initially signed for the Blues in 2009 and spent four years with our neighbours before leaving them for a brief spell at Sheffield Ladies in 2013.

When City became a fully professional outfit in 2014, Abbie returned to Manchester and would go on to make over 100 appearances, helping the club to win a Women’s Super League title, two Women’s FA Cups and two Continental Tyres Cups. McManus also played for Nick Cushing’s side in two Champions League semi-finals.
