Bayer Leverkusen have embarrassed Eintracht Frankfurt in a 6-1 (6-1) triumph and have taken a top-chasing position in the fight for the Champions League.
Four goals in the first 28 minutes of a Bundesliga match – Bayer had never done that before. Six goals for a team in a first half were last on 29 April 1978 at the phenomenal 12: 0 between Borussia Mönchengladbach and Borussia Dortmund. Another peak: In no game in the league history fell seven goals before the break.
The football spectacle in front of the 30,210 spectators in the sold-out BayArena made for the team of head coach Peter Bosz young star Kai Havertz (2nd minute), Julian Brandt (13), Lucas Alario (23/34), Charles Aránguiz (28 .) and Martin Hinteregger with an own goal (36th) perfect. Filip Kostic (14) scored for the unfortunate Eintracht to interim 1: 2. As fourth in the table, the Frankfurters are now tied at 54 points with the Werkself, who won for the fourth time in a row.
Three days after the 1-1 draw in the semi-final first leg of the Europa League against Chelsea, Eintracht coach Adi Hütter spun vigorously and took four new players in the starting line-up against the English side. It surprised Hütter with a four-back line and thus a strong defensive orientation: Ante Rebic was nominally the only striker. At Bayer ran again the last ailing captain Lars Bender and took over the position of the right-back.
The Hessians and Hütter had to give up their strategy early, however, because Havertz was successful after a wonderful combination over Brandt and Aránguiz with his 15th goal of the season to 1: 0. The 2-0 by Brandt prepared the Chilean Aránguiz. The 2: 1 was unlucky for the Werkself: Kostic held off just over 25 meters, Jonathan Tah faked for the former Eintracht keeper Lukas Hradecky in the Bayer case untenable.
Bayer was not impressed at all, played the guests dizzy at times and delivered a gala with more goals in the minute. At first the Japanese cleared Makoto Hasebe on the line (17th), then made the Argentine Alario and Aránguiz in a few minutes from the initially tight again a very clear lead.
But even with the 4: 1 Bosz selection was not enough: Alario increased to 5: 1, before the Austrian Hinteregger with a header own goal the debacle of the Hesse already completed at this time. After all, the Hütter team fought in the second 45 minutes against even more goals.
The Eintracht presented himself helpless before the break, headless and helpless and must now look against the FSV Mainz 05 and at the end at Bayern, that she is not torn from her long royal class dreams. Bayer has the supposedly easier rest program: against Schalke and in Berlin, the season goal Champions League can still be achieved.
