Much has been discussed about the quality of German teams in international competitions. Apparently that helped. So far, the Bundesliga has been in the lead in the Uefa five-year classification this season.

DThe Bundesliga has scored the most points in the five-year standings in European club competition so far. With 5,928 points, the total of seven German representatives on the first two matchdays in Champions League and Europa League earned more points than Spain (5,714) and Italy (5,642), which follow on the next places.

On the second matchday, the premier-class starters Borussia Dortmund and FC Schalke had taken just as victories as the Europa League teams RB Leipzig, Eintracht Frankfurt and Bayer Leverkusen. Champions Bayern played in the Champions League draw, 1899 Hoffenheim lost to Manchester City.

In the five-year ranking, Germany remains unchanged in fourth place with 62,641 points. The distance to the third Italy is 5084 meters and is thus somewhat shrunk compared to the preliminary rating. Spain (89,712) is still in danger and at the top by a large margin. The first four places in the ranking guarantee four starting positions in the Champions League. In the past season, the Bundesliga was with only 9.857 points as bad as last in 2006/07.
