Udinese, an even more sustainable stadium: the project for the photovoltaic system begins

A stadium that produces energy. It’s the new project the company is working on.Udinesepresented today in Milan, at the headquarters of the Serie A Football League. The Juventus club has in fact announced the start of works for the construction of a cutting-edge photovoltaic system that will be installed on the stadium roofcreated together with Bluenergy Group, the company that already gives its name to the Udine stadium. Over 2,400 latest generation solar panels which will allow the production of an average of approximately 3,000 kWh per day, making the structure partially self-sufficient in energy terms. A further confirmation of Udinese’s sensitivity to issues relating to sustainability.

Over 2000 solar panels

The project of the new plant – which should enter in operation from next October – was able to count on the support of Politecnico di Milano as an energy advisor. The collaboration concerned in particular the identification of the technologies best suited to the specific needs of the project, the technical evaluation of the plant with a view to self-consumption and the analysis of the potential connected to the adoption of other technologies and paradigms enabling the energy transition . The construction site includes the installation of 2,409 solar panels per a total of 4,615 m2 of surface area. The installation of the panels will be divided into two parallel sections distributed across the entire roof and their location will fit into the context of the stadium’s architecture. Furthermore, the design team is considering the opportunity to integrate a storage battery park with a capacity of 330 kW, useful for ensuring extended charge and discharge cycles.

An increasingly innovative stadium

But Udinese doesn’t stop here. The club already has plans to create a facility within the stadium that can be used every day of the week, not just on match days. The meeting center, the company headquarters, offices of companies and institutions and shops already present inside and, in the future, the opening of a museum, a wellness center and areas dedicated to families they are the consequence of this vision. In the meantime, we start with a stage that is increasingly innovative rather than de facto it will produce energy for the stadium itself and for the territory. “Innovation and environmental sensitivity are continuously present in Udinese Calcio’s choices”, underlines the club’s general manager, Franco Collavinoat the presentation, at which he also spoke the mayor of Udine, Alberto Felice De Toni. “This is also why we are extremely happy to make our stadium our stadium, with the fundamental contribution of Bluenergy even greener. We are recognized as the most sustainable club in Italy and the fourth in the world and this motivates us to promote projects that give further impetus to this commitment. Football moves media without comparison and we have, in addition to the duty to act virtuously ourselves, that of convey messages that involve fans in a common action against climate change”.
