Premier League highlights and summary

Manchester City defeated Arsenal 2-0 in the Premier League on Sunday, 12 August. Here are all the highlights of the game.

The Unai Emery era at Arsenal began with a loss to Pep Guardiola Manchester City. There were positives for the new coach, but above all, the game underscored why this city is the League's favorites.

Kevin De Bruyne and David Silva were left out in the starting XI when they came back on track after the World Cup, but City's starting eleven were still very impressive. Newcomers Riyad Mahrez, Ilkay Gundogan and Bernardo Silva were all in the team.

In the 14th minute, they took the lead through Raheem Sterling, who tested Petr Cech early on. The Englishman collected the ball from a Benjamin Mendy Pass before going in and passing a flat-footed cech.

Arsenal seemed to crumble after the gap, but recovered after a difficult period. Hector Bellerin got a good chance ahead of Ederson, Pierre Emerick Aubameyang missed the target with a good opportunity for the Gunners.

However, they improved after the break and began to force City for the first time on the back foot. Alexandre Lacazette, who came in as substitute, came the next but volley from the penalty area.

Shortly thereafter, City took second place, which put the result to bed. Bernardo Silva scored the goal after Benjamin Mendy's cutback in the top corner. It was an excellent finish for the Portuguese midfielder.
