The French top scorers list in the Supercopa de Espana was praised by the head coach of Barcelona
Ernesto Valverde was impressed with Ousmane Dembele's performance against Sevilla after his impressive goal helped Barcelona win the Supercopa de Espana.
Dembele's spectacular winner, who scored the winning goal for Barcelona in Tangier on 12 minutes, sealed Sunday's 2-1 victory.
The debut of the French striker at Camp Nou was hit by injuries, but the former Borussia star thwarted these problems thanks to a thunderous right-footer.
"I do not know if he needs games like today, that's a question for him," head coach Valverde said when asked if Sunday had strengthened Dembele's self-confidence.
"He is with us and we have high expectations for him, he has great quality and is here with us.
"He took part and he scored a goal which, in my opinion, is something I can rejoice in. As the game went on, he got better."
Sevilla were in front on nine minutes thanks to Pablo Sarabia, but Barca equalized with Gerard Pique three minutes before the break.
Dembele then took Barca's lead before Marc-Andre ter Stegen made the decision for Wissam Ben Yedder at the last minute.
Valverde added: "We are happy because we fought for a title against a great opponent.
"We knew the circumstances of this game were different, it was a very difficult game because we started to fall behind and we had to make a comeback.

"Many players came to the game after the break after just returning this week, and that was obvious.
"We improved over the course of the game and it was a good game in which they had chances.
"It's good to win because it boosts you in what you do and allows you to start the season in a positive way."
