Nations League: Austria missed the climb

The team of Franco Foda plays only 0-0 against Bosnia-Herzegovina in the Nations League. Spain lose their early entry into the finals against Croatia – partly because Leverkusen's Jedvaj are doubles.

Football, Nations League: Austria has missed promotion from the B to the A league in the Nations League. On the fifth matchday of Group 3, the team of coach Franco Foda in Vienna had to settle for league leaders Bosnia-Herzegovina with a 0-0 and thus can no longer pass the opponent. The Bosnians are in the next edition 2020/21 in the A-League here.

The Austrians, who missed Guido Burgstaller of the Bundesliga team Schalke 04 in the short term because of inguinal problems, would have had the chance to win first place only with victories against Bosnia-Herzegovina and on Sunday in Northern Ireland. Bosnia won the group with ten points, followed by Austria (4), which held at least the class. Northern Ireland (0) has dropped.

Football, Nations League: The Spanish national football team has to worry about reaching the finals of the Nations League. The former world champion lost 2: 3 (0: 0) to runner-up Croatia and has to hope for a draw between England and Croatia in the final match of Group A4 to reach the final round as group winners (5 to 9 June 2019 ) to reach.

Spain had a harder time in Croatia's capital Zagreb than in a furious 6-0 in the first leg. The coach Luis Enrique transformed after the World Cup knockout round-off in the first half of 70 percent possession of the ball did not capitalize: not a shot brought the Spaniards on the opposing goal.

Croatia also failed to play attacking in the first half, but went on the offensive in the second half – and twice by the Bundesliga pros Andrej Kramaric (54./TSG Hoffenheim) and Tin Jedvaj (69./Bayer Leverkusen). Spain equalized first through Daniel Ceballos (56) and Sergio Ramos (78), before Jedvaj (90 + 3) made a rebound in injury time.

For Croatia on Sunday in England is equally against relegation to the B-League as well as the entry into the finals. For the team of coach Zlatko Dalic, however, necessarily requires a victory. Wins England, the Three Lions are group winners.

Meanwhile, Belgium has presented itself in a duel with Switzerland for victory in Group 2. Matchwinner in the 2-0 (0-0) of the Red Devils against Iceland was the former Dortmunder Michy Batshuayi (65./81.). Iceland had already relegated to league B after three defeats.

Löw should stay – no matter what

The DFB had the intention to react rigorously to failure. But now the national coach is also in the case of relegation to keep his office.
