Fernando Alonso will compete for McLaren in Indianapolis 500 in 2019. Alonso, who leaves Formula One at the end of the current season, entered the Indy 500 in 2017 and raced for 27 laps before retiring towards the end.
He then drove a McLaren entry, with Honda power and support from Andretti Autosport.
With an Indy 500 victory, the Spaniard would be just the second driver to win the Motosport's Triple Crown, which consisted of victories at the Monaco Grand Prix, the Le Mans 24 Hours and the Indy 500.
The two-time F1 World Champion Graham Hill is the only man who has achieved so far. The Indy 500 issue 2019 and 103 will take place on Sunday, May 26th.
Although McLaren's 2017 entry was under the banner of McLaren-Honda-Andretti, next year they will return under the name McLaren Racing, presumably in the team's signature and distinctive papaya orange.
