We remember some strong moments at the end of the 10th and final stage of the Tour du Faso 2024. 9 countries were kind enough to come and join us in this 35th edition. They were able to travel to 10 of the 13 regions in the country. On occasion, we recorded around 1200 km on the pedal with average speeds which varied between 39 and more than 46km/h. Which demonstrates the tough nature of the competition this year.
All these performances are to be credited to several people. First, the highest authorities headed by Captain Ibrahim Traoré, President of Faso, Head of State, who instructed and provided the necessary means for the organization and who did the honor of being present at this 10th and final step. I salute the performance of the runners who, throughout the course, provided a high-level show to the numerous Burkinabè public. Thank you to these resilient people who mobilized to make the event a success. I salute the organizing committee which pulled out all the stops despite the difficulties to record a great edition.
If we were able to complete 10 stages out of 13, we must salute the intrepidity and impeccable work of the defense and security forces, without whom the Tour could not have been held peacefully. Morocco made the difference from the first stage to the last. But no one was unworthy in this competition. All participating countries are to be congratulated. These participating countries were able to realize that life is good in Burkina, people carry out their activities peacefully despite the bad apples who want to disturb our peace.
We can reassure them that with the work of our defense and security forces and the collaboration of the populations, this would soon be a bad memory and we will be able to go to all regions of the country to demonstrate this sport with all the populations. The Tour is an initiative of the authorities for Faso and for the friends of Faso. It’s true that the UCI withdrew, but the tour went well. This is the place to congratulate the local commissioners who immediately took over. It also demonstrates that we have competence. We will give ourselves the means for a more successful 36th edition.
