The Spartan midfielder probably thought he was immortal. The Czech footballer got behind the wheel under the influence and crashed. In addition, his car caught fire after the impact. It was very close to tragedy.
Mistakes are paid for. Footballer Aleš Čermák knows about this, too, as he got behind the wheel in May 2017, quite drunk. In Horoměřice on the outskirts of Prague, he lost control and crashed into a tree. The car caught fire after the crash, leaving only a wreck. The youth representative was extremely lucky that the rescuers arrived in time. He would probably burn in the car because they were dragging him unconscious. “The 1994 driver submitted to a breathalyzer test. She was positive,” spokeswoman for the Prague police, Andrea Zoulová, told Akta after the accident.
Cermak had broken ribs
One of the most skilled Czech footballers had 1.5 per thousand in his blood. “Aleš Čermák had a traffic accident on the night from Saturday to Sunday, after which he had to be taken to the hospital. He is currently conscious and out of danger. Due to the fact that further medical procedures and examinations are planned, we cannot yet comment further on Aleš’s state of health.” was the statement of the player’s agent Viktor Kolář.
“We are in close contact with him and he will receive all our support,” Kolář added. Fortunately, the Sparta player at the time escaped the car accident with only broken ribs and a bruised lung. But the accident caught the player in a key period of his career. Čermák was a mainstay of the “lion cubs” and was supposed to travel with the Czech national team to the Under-21 European Championships in Poland. In the end, however, he missed the championship due to injury. He was later fined CZK 160,000 and lost his driver’s license for 20 months. He was also threatened with prison.
He won two titles with Pilsen
However, there was at least one good news waiting for him after his recovery. Courtship with Pilsen eventually turned into a transfer and Čermák signed a four-year contract. “He is a very talented player who is at the ideal football age. I am satisfied with his arrival. Now everything depends on Aleš, he has to show up and establish himself in the competition that we have here. He has the prerequisites for that,” said the coach of Pilsen at the time, Pavel Vrba. The predictions came true. He scored 20 goals in 116 matches for Victoria and won two championship titles with it.
He ended up spending six years in Pilsen. In 2023, he bounced for a while to Bohemians in Prague and then to Dunajská Streda, only to return to Klokany soon after. In Wednesday’s match, he even helped them advance to the next stage of the MOL Cup via Vyškov with his goal. He hit the knitwear after almost a year. “Well, it’s been a long time. But I remember now. Last November behind Dunajská. It flies,” said the happy joker to iSport, who entered the pitch in the 60th minute and scored the only goal of the game twenty-two minutes later.
