Sports gala: Sports town Jennersdorf celebrated successful clubs

Jennersdorf. ak. Since the beginning of the year, the municipality of Jennersdorf has presented itself as a sports city with its five flagship clubs: UFC (football), judo, UESV (stick shooting), UTC (tennis) and fidas Volleys. Due to their outstanding successes, a sports gala was initiated for the first time in the Gernot Arena. “We are proud of the achievements of our athletes,” said Mayor Reinhard Deutsch. “As a sports city, we want to highlight and honor our sports clubs,” said Deutsch, explaining the purpose of the event. The ongoing construction and improvement of the sporting infrastructure is intended to create leisure activities for young and old. The sports city also aims to enable more training and summer camps.

Honors for deserving athletes and officials

The municipality’s big honorary award went to Markus Hirczy from the fidas Volleys. Among the footballers, chairman Stephan Tasch, player Christoph Knaus and official Helmut Puntigam were honored. In judo, chairman Nino Schachenhofer, Julia Sommer and coach Manfred Stiegler were pleased to receive honorary awards. With the stick shooters, chairman Daniel Neubauer, honorary chairman Andreas Schmidt and Josef Kloiber. There were awards for the tennis club for Heinz Gumhold and chairman Jürgen Gumhold as well as for Michael Schermann. Section leaders Philipp Kelemen, Marlies Deutsch, Manfred Forjan and Julia Sommer were honored at the fidas Volleys. In addition to Mayor Reinhard Deutsch, Federal Councilor Philipp Kohl, District Captain Harald Dunkl and City Pastor Kan were among the well-wishers. Franz Brei, the president of the Sportunion Burgenland Karin Ofner, the local politician and mayor of Mühlgraben Fabio Halb, the director of the BORG Jennersdorf Günther Vollmer and the mayor of the Jennersdorf municipality, Roswitha Feitl. The municipality wants to move the sports gala from the Gernot Arena to the planned town hall as early as 2026. According to Reinhard Deutsch, we are on the right track and negotiations with the state and federal governments are ongoing. The sports gala came to an atmospheric end with the band “Skylight”.
