Few supporters of Stade Malherbe Caen had took their place in the Borreli stand for the 8th round of the Coupe de France on Saturday November 30, 2024. Facing US Bolbec (R1), Nicolas Seube’s men made the difference in the second half to finally win easily (6-0). SM Caen will therefore see the 32nd finals of the Coupe de France the draw of which takes place on Monday December 2, 2024.
Lightning Michaël Le Bihan
Caen tries to put pressure on his opponent from the start. At the conclusion of a great collective action with a touch of the ballGodson Kyeremeh tries his luck, but his shot does not hit the target (2′). Same sanction a few seconds later when Daylam Meddah headed a corner from Mathias Autret (3′). The first Caen shot on target was the work of Mathias Autret. Kyeremeh shifts Meddah to the right and the full-back’s cross is low and finds the midfielder launched at the near post. The madjer attempted by the former Auxerre player is captured in two stages by Vincent Paulel (10′). Apart from a few corners, Caen eases off a little in the following minutes and Bolbec can hit the goal for the first timebut Clémentia, vigilant, wins (19′).
It is on a piece of jewelry that SM Caen finally opened the scoring. Michaël Le Bihan, just before entering the area, curls perfectly with his right foot and leaves Vincent Paumel on his line while the ball find the little net (1-0, 21′). The Caennais maintain the pressure to increase the gap. Lorenzo Rajot finds Romain Thomas’ header at the far post. The captain’s delivery reaches Le Bihan who touches the ball, but comes up against Paumel (27′). Bolbec then regroups in its camp and the match loses a little of its rhythm. But on a ball lost by Didi Gaucho in midfield, Bolbec projects quickly forward. Ntim fails to contain Kevin Massaka who presents himself alone against Clémentia. The Caen goalkeeper wins his duel and allows his team to stay ahead (37′). SM Caen then had a great opportunity to double the lead before half-time. Kyeremeh finds Autret with a header that puts Paulel back into action. The Bolbecais goalkeeper intervenes, but the ball returns to Le Bihan who, by missing his recoveryalmost lobbed the opposing goalkeeper who pushed back again (44′). Caen only led by one goal at the break, but had the actions to take a little more shelter.
A calm second half
As soon as they returned from the locker room, Caen doubled the lead. From the central rong, Didi Gaucho finds Mathias Autret in the area. In a duel with a defender, number ten from Caen however manages to touch the ball and to lob Vincent Paulel (2-0, 47′). Stunned, Bolbec is unable to keep the ball to leave his camp. Malherbe lays siege to the opposing area, but hits little on goal. It is again from Michaël Le Bihan that the solution comes. His hook in the area allows him to trigger a strike. Vincent Paulel diverts but Kyeremeh can head back. The Bolbec goalkeeper is still on the trajectorybut the Caen striker then resumes to score Caen’s third goal (3-0, 58′).
Bolbdec cannot do it and SM Caen will increase its lead. Godson Kyeremeh is thrown deep in the center of the field. His control is a little long, but he can turn around and find Brahimi who shifts Alexandre Mendy. The scorer is not flagged offside and can deceive Paulel (4-0, 65′). Caen apart twice the opportunity to increase the score. But neither Kyeremeh (71′) nor Lebreton (74′) hit their attempt. Until Bilal Brahimi, well found by Mathias Autret, who deceives the vigilance of Vincent Paumel on his near post (5-0, 77′). Bolbec does his first foray into the Caen areabut Clémentia intervenes in the center (82′). Caen buried its victory through Godons Kyeremeh, well offset by Alexandre Mendy (6-0, 88′).
SM Caen enforced the hierarchy on its lawn and will be there for the 32nd finals. This next round will mark the entry into the running of Ligue 1 clubs.
