A performance report meeting for the project ‘Development of environmentally friendly shoe parts and carbon-reducing manufacturing process solutions based on shared growth ESG (environment, society, governance)’ hosted by Haksan, a Busan sports company, was held at the Samsung Hotel in Geoje-si, Gyeongnam on the 7th.

The two-day performance report, which will be held until the 8th, is an opportunity to present prototypes such as tennis shoes, walking shoes, and safety shoes that have established the ESG value foundation as a result of the research and development (R&D) that has been worked hard.

These prototypes used shoe parts made from recycled and natural materials and were produced through optimization of eco-friendly processes.

In accordance with the eco-friendly shoe material governance of the Korea Institute of Materials and Convergence, Haksan, which has its own brand ‘VITRO’, is the main company, including Finetech (rubber), Korea Oil & Chemicals (adhesives), Yoosung Atech (foam), E&R (upper), etc. Each shoe parts manufacturer participated.

Korea’s K2 Korea and Danish safety shoe manufacturer Solid Gear also actively cooperated.

This project was supported by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy with the purpose of strengthening the collaboration system between parts, finished products, and brand companies through R&D and forming a value chain in the shoe material field by securing a demand supply chain.

Previously, the participating companies were the first shoe manufacturers to publish an ESG management report through BUKYUNG Patent Firm.

Accordingly, it is expected that it will secure component technology for each shoe part for ESG response source technology and at the same time serve as a foundation for entering the global market.

An official from Haksan said, “With this project as an opportunity, we expect to be able to quickly respond to the demand for value creation through eco-friendly manufacturing strategies using sustainable materials and the convergence of component materials.”
