National Women’s Basketball Team defeated Romania 101-54 in its third match in Group F of the 2025 European Championship Qualifiers. Having defeated Slovakia 75-40 and Iceland 72-65 in the qualifiers, the Crescent-Stars team also defeated Romania, making it 3 out of 3 and maintaining their leadership in the group.
A Nationals started the match with Sevgi Uzun, Olcay Çakır Turgut, Teaira Zyaira McCovan, Tilbe Şenyürek and Sinem Ataş as their top 5. Romania played with Carla Popescu, Katy Armanu, Gabriela Irimia, Alexandra Ghita and Alina Podar.
The Crescent-Stars team started the match quickly and dominated their opponent in the first minutes, finishing the first period ahead 25-16. Continuing their superior play in the second period, the A Nationals closed the half with a 27-point lead, 58-31. Leading 78-41 in the final period, the national team won the match with a different score of 101-54.
The Crescent-Stars will face Slovakia in their fourth match in the group on Sunday, November 10, at 20:00 at GOPASS Arena in Bratislava.
‘WE REMEMBER OUR GREAT LEADER WITH RESPECT’
National Women’s Basketball Team took to the court with the banner “We Commemorate Our Great Leader with Respect” on the 86th anniversary of the death of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic of Turkey.
MINISTER DID NOT LEAVE ME ALONE
Minister of Youth and Sports Dr. Osman Aşkın Bak followed the match of the National Women’s Basketball Team against Romania from the stands. In addition, Basketball Federation (TBF) President Hidayet Türkoğlu and TBF Deputy President Harun Erdenay also watched the match together with Minister Bak.
At the end of the match, Minister Bak congratulated the Crescent-Star team for the victory.
