Ligue 1: justice authorizes Le Havre to seize 7.5 million euros from the LFP accounts

For a year and a half, Le Havre has been struggling on the Ligue 1 pitches, but not only that. Since 2023 and the summer of its accession to the elite, the HAC has stood up against the distribution of the CVC contribution, which it considers unfair. The investment fund invested 1.5 billion euros in Ligue’s commercial subsidiary in return for 13% of its revenues. And if L1 residents have earned between 33 million euros and 200 million euros in history, the Norman club cannot say the same. Le Havre only received 1.5 million, less than Ligue 2 clubs.

The Normandy group’s request was echoed by the Paris judicial court, which authorized the HAC to carry out a precautionary seizure on the accounts of LFP Media to the tune of 7.5 million euros, according to information from the newspaper L’ Team. The club’s claim actually appeared credible. The Senate also took the side of the current 14th in Ligue 1 in its October report.

“Repair the damage”

This measure by the judge comes at a time when the League must distribute what remains of the CVC contribution. A priori, it was not expected that Le Havre would be compensated: the club would receive between 500,000 and 700,000 euros, like the other teams, which have already received 33 million euros in their funds.

“Since a remainder is available, it must benefit the HAC which is entitled to receive the amount reserved for clubs accessing Ligue 1 at the time of the release of the second tranche of the CVC Contribution or, at the very least, to see the damage caused to him by the eminently unfair treatment of which he is a victim repaired – for two seasons in Ligue 1 he has been fighting with clubs which have received aid at least 20 times greater than his own,” the club wrote dean in his request to the judicial court.
