Ranchi: After the end of the assembly elections, Jharkhand has got the opportunity to host four SGFI national sports competitions in January 2025. All competitions will be organized at the Mega Sports Complex located at Khelgaon, Ranchi. Jharkhand has got the hosting rights of four sports competitions, which include Under 19 and Under 14 boys and girls athletics, Under 19 Boys and Girls Tennis, Under 14/17/19 Boys and Girls Track Cycling and Under 19 Boys and Girls Hockey. Competition is involved.
Under 19 athletics will be organized from 5 to 8 January. Under 14 athletics competition will be organized from 11 to 14 January, tennis competition will be organized from 17 to 19 January, track cycling will be organized from 17 to 20 January. Hockey competition will be organized from 23 to 27 January. 45 teams from different states and unions of the country will participate in these competitions. The School Education and Literacy Department of the State Government has started preparations for the competition.
Competitions were postponed due to assembly elections
Earlier, some competitions of SGFI were to be held in November and December 2024. SGFI competitions were postponed in view of the assembly elections in Jharkhand. In view of the Model Code of Conduct implemented in the state, the decision to postpone the hosting rights given to Jharkhand was taken. After the completion of the elections, SGFI has handed over the hosting of the sports event to Jharkhand with new dates.
