CASERTA. TIGHT CHECKS BY THE CARABINIERI. 2 ARRESTS AND 9 COMPLAINTS ARE TAKEN. COCAINE, KNIVES, BASEBALL BATS AND A CLEAVER SEIZED.
Two arrests and nine reports in a state of freedom are the results of the wide-ranging coordinated service carried out last night by the Carabinieri of the Caserta Company.
The ten patrols, belonging to the Operational and Radiomobile Unit and to the Carabinieri Stations, located in the town center and along the main roads connecting with the neighboring municipalities, allowed, from late yesterday evening until the early hours of this morning, to proceed with the control of 180 people and 57 vehicles with the complaint of 65 violations of the highway code for a total amount of approximately 35,000.00 euros.
During the checks, the military reported five young people to the local government office as drug users, as they were found in possession of small quantities of hashish.
The checks aimed at protecting road safety, however, led to the seizure of seven vehicles, the administrative detention of three cars and the withdrawal of five driving licences.
Nine people were reported for illegal possession of weapons, driving under the influence of alcohol, possession of false driving documents, violation of the provisions imposed by the special surveillance of the police station with an obligation to stay, detention for the purpose of dealing drugs.
At the same time, a switchblade with a 17 cm blade, a baseball bat and two wooden batons were seized.
Shortly after 11.00 pm the patrols of the Radiomobile Section of the Caserta Company and that of the Casagiove Station intercepted a white Renault Twingo with two people on board in Silk Square.
The driver, regardless of the halt imposed by the police, first attempted to run over the military selector and then, suddenly accelerating, continued his journey in the direction of the Vaccheria area.
Immediately followed, they were caught up and blocked after a few hundred metres.
The two young people aged 20 and 16, coming from the Neapolitan and Caserta areas, immediately appeared nervous and intolerant of control and were searched by the military.
The 20-year-old, particularly aggressive and violent, was found in possession of ten cellophane wrappers containing numerous doses of cocaine and 624.00 euros in cash divided into banknotes of various denominations.
Inside the car, which appeared to be rental, a metal knuckle duster hidden in the glove compartment of the driver’s seat, two precision scales, material for packaging the narcotic substance, a mobile phone, four plastic and metal scissors were found, a butcher’s cleaver in polished metal, with an overall length of 29 cm of which 17cm is the blade alone, with a wooden handle and a kitchen knife.
The narcotics, the money and the material found were seized.
The 20-year-old, accompanied to the barracks, was arrested and taken under house arrest. He will have to answer for possession for the purpose of dealing drugs and illegal carrying of weapons or objects capable of offending.
A few hours later, at a therapeutic community in the Caserta area, the soldiers of the Caserta station tracked down and arrested a 41-year-old from the Neapolitan area who was the recipient of the revocation of the alternative measure of therapeutic custody in the community and a contextual order of imprisonment for the commission of crimes in drug matters.
