Havana, Nov 29 (ACN) With a final victory, the Cuban Yerisbel Miranda completed 6.5 points and settled in fourth place in the Women’s Continental Chess Championship, which was completely dominated by the United States in the Dominican capital.

The bronze medalist from the last national competition defeated the Colombian Isabella Rojas with white pieces, after imposing her best position in a Queen’s Gambit that lasted until the 22nd set.

After applying the tiebreaker system, Yerisbel was left out of a podium occupied by the Americans Atousa Pourkashiyan (7.5), Zoey Tang (7.5) and ThalĂa Cervantes (6.5), medalists in that order.

According to the rules of the competition, the only World Cup place was in the hands of Atousa, while Tang, at just 16 years of age, celebrated the Grand Master standard that was granted to her for equaling the champion’s sum.

The other Cubans in competition, Yaniela Forgas and Leannet Mariah Bosch, achieved identical totals of five stripes, although the tiebreaker reserved them for 18th and 24th places, respectively.
