In Week 10 all eyes were on the Big Ten battle between Ohio State (4) at Penn State (3).
At the end of a very tight game the Buckeyes prevailed 20 to 13.
The start of the game, however, had a smile on Penn State who found themselves leading 10-0 thanks to a Field Goal and the Pick Six by CB Zion Tracy who returned the oval thrown by the Ohio State QB to the endzone, Will Howard.
The Buckeyes did not lose their composure despite the run and in 2 drives they scored 14 points thanks to Will Haward’s TD Pass. The 3rd Touchdown for Ohio State would have also arrived if it weren’t for the fact that Will Haward himself, before entering the endzone, with a running action, had not lost the oval thus determining the touchback.
At the end of the second quarter in the hands of QB Drew Allar there is the possibility to go back ahead for PSU, but the throw into the endzone ends up in the hands of CB Davison Igbinosun.
The second half will offer few emotions, if not the missed TD, 5′ from the end, by Penn State who with a 4th and Goal one yard from the endzone fails to score and Drew Allar’s incomplete thus ends the hostilities. Drive that could have been managed better given that when they reached 3 yards from the goal line 3 times they were stopped by Ohio State’s DL in an attempt to break through with the runs of RB Kaytron Allen.
Once again the Nittany Lions fail to complete a season without suffering a defeat against the Buckeyes. Saturday’s match is the eighth in a row and the 12th in the last 13 matches. With Oregon and Indiana still undefeated in the Big Ten (including Overall), Penn State’s chance of reaching the Championship is practically zero. For Ohio State, however, the match against Indiana will be decisive to gain a pass for the Big Ten final.
In the heartfelt rivalry between Georgia (2) e Floridaplayed at the Jacksonville Jaguars’ Everbank Stadium, the final score was a clear 34 to 20 for the Bulldogs, but the game was anything but one-sided.
The first half ended 13-6 for the Gators with Georgia’s attack still at the mercy of Carson Beck’s interceptions, while for Florida an excellent DJ Lagway found a 43-yard TD pass for the WR, also freshman, Aidan Mizell.
In the 3rd quarter Georgia finds continuity, thanks to a more run-oriented game and RB Nate Frazier finds the tying TD on one of these.
Florida, after the exit due to injury of QB DJ Lagway, seems to have lost its luster and the only opportunity to score is on a Field Goal at the end of the 3rd period, but the poorly executed snap ends up giving possession to the Bulldogs. From here Georgia will run away in scoring thanks to 3 TDs.
Overall, Georgia emerges a little diminished by this challenge, not so much because of its always exceptional defense, but because of the increasingly bigger problem that bears the name of Carson Beck. The Bulldogs’ QB, after the good 2023 season, instead of definitively exploding in 2024, is regressing in a worrying way. Yesterday another 3 interceptions, as in the previous match and if we look at the last 5 there are even 11. Carson Beck risks being the Achilles’ heel for these Bulldogs, who would otherwise have all it takes to aim for the National Title. An immediate change of course is needed for Carson Beck, who in addition to Georgia’s season also risks ruining his prices in view of the 2025 Draft.
