With a hard-fought victory, the Kansas City Chiefs have their record as the best team in the world NFL defended. The victory was only secured by a mistake by the Raiders, who brought the ball into play too early with seconds left and subsequently lost to the hosts from Kansas City.
The Chiefs had been leading 16-3 in the third quarter and suddenly found themselves behind 16-17 at the start of the final quarter. A field goal from kicker Matthew Wright put the Chiefs back in the lead and was ultimately enough for their eleventh win in the twelfth game of the season. The Chiefs are mathematically guaranteed to take part in the playoffs. The team wants to be the first team in NFL history to win the Super Bowl for the third time in a row.
Mahomes recorded a touchdown pass and threw for a total of 306 yards. Travis Kelce, whose girlfriend Taylor Swift watched the game live in the stadium, only caught 7 of the 13 passes his way. For the Raiders, quarterback Aidan O’Connell impressed with two touchdown passes and throws for 340 yards.
