Santa Lucia, a new roundabout where the baseball field is today

At Santa Lucia park (via Santa Lucia), the mayor Chiara Frontini with the councillors Emanuele Aronne (Quality of urban spaces) e Stefano Floris (Public Works) illustrated the details of the infrastructure project, approved in the relevant city council the creation of the connection of the northern quadrant of the city (Santa Lucia – Santa Barbara junction – Almirante ring road). The lawyer was present Luca Chiodi president of the Neighborhood Residents’ Committee, the councillors Laura Allegrini, Alessandra Troncarelli, Umberto di Fusco and a large representation of the inhabitants of the neighborhood.

The mayor began by stating that the city council has unanimously approved, with only one abstention, the project for the interchange that will connect Santa Barbara and Santa Lucia with the ring road. “This vote – underlined Frontini – is not only a commitment made and respected with the residents of the neighborhood, but a work that changes and impacts the lives of many people”.

“A project shared entirely”, stated the president of the S. Lucia residents’ committee, Lawyer Chiodi, who addressed words of thanks to the Administration which listened to the inhabitants of the neighbourhood. Councilor Floris explained that once the bureaucratic problems have been resolved by the spring of 2025, the works should begin and finish in 2026. Laura Allegrini at the same time informed those present that thanks to the interest of the Honorable Mauro Rotelli the project will be able to count on the allocation of another million and a half euros for finishing and improvements. Finally, councilor Aronne explained that
the interventions are the construction of a roundabout, practically where the baseball field is today. After that, from there you will go onto a ramp that will allow you to access the Almirante junction on the lane that goes towards Tuscania. A pedestrian and cycle bridge with greenery and benches will be built which will connect Santa Barbara to Santa Lucia. New car parks will also be built. The green park of Santa Lucia will be revised and created according to naturalistic criteria that will allow use by all inhabitants, dozens of trees will be planted which will produce healthier and cleaner air and environments. The planting will not be random but trees will be chosen that will contribute to biodiversity in a unique and specific way.
