Archery on horseback, Francesina from Saronno on the podium in Switzerland

SARONNO – From 4 to 6 October the town of Visp, located in the Canton of Valais, was the stage for a high-level equestrian competition which saw the participation of 52 competitors from eight European nations. The competitions that saw Poland, Finland and Turkey compete for the victory in group A of the 2024 EGP European team competition took place on the pretty La Gentinetta farm.

Individual Competition

Among the young talents in the young rider category, Silvia Fagioli and Giacomo Grego from Francesina di Saronno obtained third and seventh place respectively. This is the first podium for Silvia in an international race, also achieving her best personal performance in the Tower 90 race. Silvia’s consistency of results in the three days of competition should be underlined with a second, third and fourth place in the Hunt, Raid disciplines 233 and Tower 90, leaving behind some of the best archers in Europe. In the senior category, the archer from Francesina di Saronno, Alessandro de Santis, placed
in eleventh place in the rankings, recording his personal best performance in the Raid 233 race.

Team competition

The Polish team achieved success, and succeeds Turkey in the competition’s honor roll. Finland achieved a well-deserved second place, while the Turkish team completed the podium with a high-level performance, not enough to climb the rankings and confirm success in 2023. Great satisfaction for Frederik Durand, coach of the three archers of the La Francesina team of Saronno: thanks to these results the athletes will be able to improve their position in the world rankings of this
exciting sport.
