The basketball players from Alba Berlin have suffered their next defeat in the Euroleague. The weakened Berliners lost on Thursday evening at home in front of 8,356 spectators against the Turkish runner-up Anadolu Efes Istanbul with 70:86 (35:51). After the sixth defeat in the seventh game, the Bundesliga team remains bottom of the table. The best Berlin throwers were Martin Hermannsson with 24 and Trevion Williams with 16 points.
Coach Israel Gonzalez’s team was joined by the sick guard Matteo Spagnolo in addition to the already five absences. The Berlin rump team then started with a 0:6 run. But Alba held up well at first, but trailed the entire game.
And Alba’s problems worsened as the game went on. They could hardly keep up with the guests’ physicality and athleticism. When the Berliners missed too many throws, Efes was able to pull away little by little without much effort. Shortly before the break, the deficit grew to 18 points (33:51).
Even after the break, the guests dominated the action. Alba lacked the means to start a serious comeback. So there was no more tension. In the final quarter the deficit grew to 21 points (54:75). To make matters worse, Williams also had to go out shortly before the end with a laceration to his head.
